Winter Storm Octavia

This was the view from our farm a couple days ago...
When I woke up and looked out over the valley, everything was covered in a fine layer of hoar frost.   Each individual blade of grass, every twig on the bushes and the leaves on the ground were frosty white.  It was beautiful!
You can see the tops of the trees in the distance covered in glistening white.   And the sky was clear blue and sunny all day long.   How very pretty.
And then we woke up this morning to find a layer of ice coating everything.   Jeremy made it to work, but I'm not sure how he's going to get home tonight.  The sleet and ice has been building up all morning on anything left outside in the elements.   What nasty weather!
Now the wind is howling as the storm is on top of us.....Kentucky to the north is getting quite a bit of snow.  But we are in the middle of the storm where the ice and sleet is coming down hour after hour.   Our flag is standing straight out because of the heavy winds....and also because the fabric is frozen almost solid in that position!   And that shiny stuff you see glistening on the pavilion floor and sidewalk isn't rain.....it's ice.   Yikes!
The windows on the south side of the house are getting coated in ice.   We're so glad to have our provisions stocked so we can just ride out the storm in our comfy little farm house.
The closed in porch where my computer desk resides can get a little cool.   That's when we fire up this wall propane heater.   In no time at all it's nice and toasty and I can sit and type away on my keyboard in warmth and comfort.
Molly likes to keep me company while I type away.....in her warm little dog bed next to me.  So, that's how we are managing through the storm.   Hopefully we won't lose power from downed limbs on the power lines.   Now I think it's time for a steaming cup of tea.    Nothing like "nesting" during a cold winter storm.

Staying inside for a while,
Debbie
