Relaxed Summer Class Schedule, A.K.A., We haven't missed a beat!

No, I haven't gone off the deep end.........yet. And you aren't seeing things. This is a picture of our Christmas tree loaded with seashells, flamingos and crazy Florida Coastal colors. Of course I don't have our tree up now! But, next month I will have Christmas carols playing as I make some early Christmas presents. Ha! You thought I was kidding about Christmas in July, didn't you?

If you'd like to join me in making some of your very own precious gifts for your loved ones, give me a call @ 474-3893 and I'll save you a spot. Sew whatever you like and have the camraderie of sewing buddies cheering you on. If you get stuck, I'll be right there to answer your questions and get you on the right path. Seats are limited so reserve early. Cost is $15 for the day from 9am-4pm. Lunch is included and I'll have coffee and make some yummy homemade muffins in the morning. The dates are yet to be decided by YOU! So, gather your girlfriends and let's dream about snowflakes while sewing in our flip flops.

Anyone interested in turning your kid's/spouses t-shirts into a memory quilt for them? (Another great present idea!) This summer is a perfect time to do that, too! Gather up those shirts and give us a call to set up a class time. With a little bit of homework, you should be able to complete a quilt in 3 class days. Class cost is $75 for all 3 days of instruction and Teresa will be the teacher.

I'd also like to hear from any of you who own an Embellisher. They're made by Baby Lock and it's a machine like nothing you've ever seen before. To see what this baby can do, go to http://www.hermajestymargo.blogspot.com/ and drool. I've been fooling around with this technique off and on for a couple of years now and would like to get serious about getting my work to look like Margo's! See, I'm purposely not telling you much so your curiousity will take you to her website and that way you can SEE exactly what I'm so excited about creating for myself.

Well, until the next great idea pops into my head, I'm off to make another cappuccino and catch up on some (yawn*) ironing. Phooey! I'd much rather be sewing! Somebody's gotta do the dirty work........then I can "play" with my machines again.

Dreamin' of sewing,
Debbie

Spring Class Schedule 2009

Pink Florida Threads is going quilt crazy this Spring. It seems that we've caught a fever...a fever for cutting up and piecing fabrics back together in fun and artful ways. So, come join us and we'll teach you how to make your own quilt, an iconic American treasure. (These aren't your grandmother's quilts, trust me.) Some of the classes have a picture posted on the left side of the blog.

If you are excited to attend a class, but the date posted doesn't work with your schedule, call us to see if an alternate date is possible. Most of our classes can be taught on a day that is more convenient to your schedule. Also, if there is a technique you'd like to learn, ask if we have someone who knows how to do it! We'd love to teach you whatever you are curious to learn.

To attend a class, simply drop in at Pink Florida Threads and sign up or give us a call to put your name on the list. Prepayment is required to hold your spot in the class. We can be reached at 727-474-3893.

Sit and Sew-last Friday and now Saturday, too(for those of you who work during the week), of each month

Winter Class Schedule

Oh my goodness, am I ever excited? Wait till you see our first ever class schedule for January, February and March. We're going to have classes for sewers of all skill levels. Come into the shop to see the class samples on the wall and sign up for your favorites.

First, I'd like to introduce you to our teachers. Dotty is a delightful retired Home Economics teacher with a wide range of skills. She can teach you how to thread a needle and lead you all the way to a tailored suit jacket, learning one step at a time. Teresa also has a varied skillset background and has made gorgeous costumes for years. Purses and quilts are her "thing" now, and wait till you see the adorable items she has come up with for you to make.

Barb has been sewing for years and is probably the most prolific sewer I've ever come across. Her adorable pillowcases for all seasons and all occasions have been flying out of the shop. Now you can learn how to make them for yourself. And, I'll be teaching a class in quilting and getting a bit off track by offering a class to make our popular magnetic bulletin board.

Each of these ladies knows what they're doing and they have a good time doing it. So, come see why we think sewing is fun and soon you'll have caught the "sewing bug" too. Class sizes are limited so you get the personal attention you've come to expect at P.F.T. Individual class instruction is available for those who have never turned on a sewing machine.

Also, to support our local Ronald McDonald House in St. Petersburg, bring in your white elephant, leftover, and odds and ends fabrics and we'll cut them into squares and strips to create quilts for babies and small toddlers. Spend the day as we cut, piece and sew together quilts made with love for these deserving children. Wednesday March 4 from 1-5pm and Thursday March 5 from 10-4pm. Let's see how many quilts we can make together. All skill levels invited.

Well, there you have it. We hope that there is something here to whet your appetite. If there is a particular type of class you are interested in, don't hesitate to ask us for it!! Remember, we LOVE to sew and we love to share our passion for sewing with you.

Creatively yours,
Debbie
